WILLS

Do you need a Will?

Many people, especially young individuals and those who feel that their estate is too small, believe that a Will represents an unnecessary expense.   But the preparation of a Will is  relatively inexpensive compared to the consequences of not having one.  Without a Will an estate may face the maximum in applicable probate costs and taxes.  Having a Will can save you and your family money in the long run.

Even when property distribution issues are not complicated, a Will is the legal avenue in which to address the following:

·          Naming an executor/executrix

·          Naming a legal guardian for minors (if

           applicable)

·          Making gifts or transfers

·          Reducing estate tax liability

In the absence of a Will, the state will resort to a formula. A Judge will name an executor, a bond may be posted, the court will name a guardian and a formula will determine how your assets will be distributed.

The Last Will and Testament is your final opportunity to give expression to personal wishes  regarding child custody, property distribution and a legacy of values.

Don’t let Life get in the way— In a fast paced world its difficult to “plan for the future” or the reality that no one enjoys discussing death.   All of the reasons for procrastinating are understandable, but the reality of not having a Will can have a devastating impact on those you leave behind.
